Man Tries to Snatch 11-Year-Old Girl on Woolwich Street
Two 11-year-old girls had a terrifying start to their day on Thursday, 19 November. At 8.10am, while walking along Woolwich Manor Way, they were confronted by a man drinking from what appeared to be a bottle of alcohol.
The man suddenly grabbed one girl’s arm and tried to drag her away. Thankfully, her friend held tight and pulled her free before they both bolted.
Police Hunt Suspect After Shocking Attempted Abduction
PC Harry Albon, leading the investigation, revealed: “Although the girls were not physically harmed, they were understandably shaken by this incident.”
He added that several young people were on their way to school at the time and may have witnessed the struggle. Police urge anyone who saw what happened to come forward.
Suspect Description
- Black male, around 30 years old
- Approximately 6ft tall, medium to chubby build
- Short dark hair, wearing a navy blue knitted hat
- Dark grey coat, black jogging bottoms, black T-shirt
- Possibly wearing a navy-blue gilet
Police Appeal for Witnesses
Officers from the North East Command Unit are working closely with the local school to support pupils and staff while hunting the suspect.
