Man Plunges 40ft From Hilsea Bridge in Portsmouth
A man in his 40s has been seriously injured after falling from a bridge in Hilsea, Portsmouth, today.
Emergency Services Rush to Scene
The terrifying incident unfolded just after 12:15pm near the busy bus interchange. Shocked workers fixing a nearby bus shelter say the man fell from the footbridge and landed on the main road below – a key route in and out of the city.
Hampshire Air Ambulance, police, and paramedics scrambled to the scene. The injured man suffered multiple, potentially life-threatening injuries. He was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital for urgent treatment.
Bridge Closed, Traffic Chaos Ensues
Police have sealed off both sides of the bridge and launched an investigation to determine how the fall happened. The closure has caused heavy traffic congestion, with buses unable to serve the interchange.
