Missing Police Dog Sparks Urgent Search Near Loch Ness
Authorities are on high alert after PD Fergie, a 3½-year-old black and tan German Shepherd police dog, vanished near Loch Ness. The loyal canine disappeared during a routine walk close to Polmaily House on Sunday, June 30.
Out of Character Disappearance Worries Police
Chief Inspector Gordon Fotheringham, head of the North’s Police Dog Unit, described Fergie’s sudden disappearance as “highly unusual.” He said, “This is a regular walking route for PD Fergie, and for her to run off is out of character.” Police fear she could be injured and unable to respond to calls.
Public Urged to Stay Calm and Help Spot PD Fergie
Search teams are scouring the area, urging the public to report any sightings immediately. Officers stress that PD Fergie may behave differently from normal dogs due to her police training. If you spot her, remain calm and still, speak softly, and do not run toward or away from her. Barking is normal for a trained police dog.
