Southbound M1 Shut in Northamptonshire After Police Incident
The southbound M1 motorway is closed between junctions 16 and 15a near Northampton following a police-led incident. Traffic is at a standstill as officers deal with the situation.
Follow the “Hollow Square” Diversion
Drivers are urged to follow the official “Hollow Square” diversion route to avoid the closure:
- Exit M1 southbound at J16
- Take the first exit onto A4500 1 Road
- Continue along A4500, passing Weedon Road/Banbury Road Roundabout
- Drive through signalised junctions at 1 Valley Way, St Crispin, Upton Mill Lane, and Kent Road
- At the A4500/A5076 Weedon Road Roundabout, turn right (south) onto A5076 Upton Way
- Carry on through two roundabouts (1 Way and Clinkers Road)
- At the A5076/A5123 Danes Camp Way Roundabout, take the second exit south onto A5123
- Follow A5123 to rejoin M1 southbound at J15a
