Man Found Murdered in Southampton Woodland – Police Name Victim
Police have identified the man found murdered in Southampton last week as 66-year-old Gerald Pragnell from Portsmouth Road. His body was discovered in woodland off Cemetery Road on the evening of Saturday, 3 November.
Disappearance and Tragic Discovery
Mr Pragnell was reported missing on 2 November after last being seen at 6.30am on Thursday, 1 November. His family have today released a photo, appealing for public help.
Police Hunt for Clues on Final Movements
Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding Mr Pragnell’s death. Officers remain at the scene, conducting intensive enquiries. They want to trace Mr Pragnell’s steps on the morning he vanished.
Detective Chief Inspector Dave Morgan said: “We know Mr Pragnell left work at Southampton Airport around 6.30am Thursday in his silver Mercedes GLA, registration GIW 4045.
“We need to know where that car was between 6.30am and 11am that day. We’re especially interested in anyone with dash cam footage showing the vehicle near Inner Avenue, Bedford Place, or around Cemetery Road.”
He added, “If you saw this car or have dash cam footage, please get in touch. No detail is too small – it could be vital.”
Arrests Made But Investigation Ongoing
Seven arrests have been made. Six suspects have been released but remain under investigation. One 34-year-old man is still in custody as police extend questioning.
