Police Car’s Windscreen SHATTERED by Rock Thrown on A419 Swindon

Police want witnesses after a flying rock smashed the windscreen of a moving police car on the A419 in Swindon. The shocking attack happened just past the A420 northbound turning at 12.45am on May 5.

Rock Hits Police Car in Dangerous Roadside Attack

Officers were called to the scene after a motorist reported a rock hitting his roof. As police drove the same stretch, a rock slammed into their windscreen, sending shards of glass flying. Thankfully, officers escaped injury and brought the vehicle to a safe stop.

Inspector Slams ‘Idiotic, Reckless’ Thug Behaviour

“This is an idiotic, reckless thing to do which could have ended up as a fatality,” said Inspector Colin Conway.

“These actions could have caused serious harm to all road users and it beggars belief that someone would do this.”

Police Believe Rocks Were Taken from Nearby Railway Line

Inspector Conway added the rocks were possibly gathered from a nearby railway line — “which is another danger in itself.”

He urged anyone who saw anything or knows who’s responsible to call police now.
