Rider Hurt in Stamford Hill Bike Skid — No Car Collision

A rider was rushed to hospital after a solo bike crash in Stamford Hill, North London, on Wednesday evening. Early reports mistakenly suggested a car hit the rider, but it’s now clear the bike skidded and fell on its own near a parked vehicle.

Emergency Rush to Scene

The crash happened at around 8:28pm on Stamford Hill N16. Hatzola emergency responders were first on the scene, quickly treating the injured rider. They were joined moments later by London Ambulance Service paramedics. The rider’s condition remains undisclosed, but they have been taken to hospital for urgent care.

Road Closures and Bus Chaos

Stamford Hill is still blocked southbound near Clapton Common as the Metropolitan Police investigate the crash. The area is cordoned off while traffic accident experts gather evidence.

Bus routes 67, 76, 149, 243, 349, 476, and N73 are being diverted. Transport for London warns commuters to expect delays and use alternative routes.

Recommended Diversion Southbound:

  • Left Clapton Common
  • Along Upper Clapton Road
  • Right onto Northwold Road
  • Left Stoke Newington Common
  • Left Rectory Road
  • Right Manse Road

Police Probe & Witness Appeal

The Met say the rider lost control and fell, with no other vehicle involved. CCTV footage and witness statements are being reviewed to piece together what happened.

Officers urge anyone who saw the crash or has dashcam footage from the area to contact them on 101, quoting the date and Stamford Hill location.
