RNLI’s Yellow Welly Relay Raises Vital Funds for Lifesavers
The RNLI Portsmouth Lifeboat crew have been on a coast-hopping adventure with a bright yellow welly boot to boost their crucial Mayday fundraising month. For two days, this quirky relay has showcased the dedication, talent, and spirit of RNLI teams and supporters across the South Coast.
Yellow Welly Hits the Road (and Waves!)
The journey kicked off with Bembridge Coxswain riding the iconic boot on his Harley to Ryde. There, the Hovertravel team stepped in, ferrying the welly over to Southsea – a perfect maritime handover.
From Southsea Castle to Stormy Stan’s BBQ
RNLI crew, fully kitted out, marched the welly down to Southsea Castle. Lifeguards then picked it up at South Parade Pier, carrying it all the way back to the Lifeboat Station. The day wrapped up with a lively BBQ hosted by Stormy Stan, raising spirits and funds alike.
Camber and Beyond: The Relay Rolls On
Sunday saw the yellow welly make its way to the Camber in Portsmouth before being handed to the Hayling Lifeboat crew. Their mission: keep the relay going along the coast to spread awareness and raise desperately needed cash.
Iconic Landmarks Turn Yellow in Support
Even the Spinnaker Tower got in on the action, glowing yellow to back the lifesaving work of the RNLI and encourage the public to support their heroic mission.
