Isle of Wight Lifeboat Rushed to Sailor in Solent Distress!
The Ryde Independent Lifeboat sprang into action this afternoon to assist a sailor in distress in the Solent. Thankfully, the sailor is reported fit and well. Ryde Rescue One was launched to aid and tow the vessel to safety.
Another Day, Another Dangerous Rescue
Just yesterday evening, Ryde Rescue was called out again. At around 5pm, Solent Coastguard tasked the crew to a rigid inflatable boat (RIB) drifting helplessly near No Man’s Fort, with three people onboard.
Lifeboat Crew Pull Off Quick Save
Arriving swiftly on the scene, the volunteers found the RIB’s engine had failed and its anchor was dragging dangerously close to busy shipping lanes. Without hesitation, Ryde Rescue secured a tow and brought the vessel back to a safe mooring off Seaview. The three people were safely transferred ashore.
Busy Year for Ryde Lifeboat Station
This was the eighth emergency callout for the independent lifeboat station in 2018 — a testament to their vital work keeping Solent waters safe.
