Search Suspended for Missing Kayaker Off Hove and Shoreham
HM Coastguard called off the search at nightfall on Sunday for a missing kayaker near Hove and Shoreham, pending new information. The intensive hunt kicked off earlier that day after reports of a person entering the water from a kayak.
Alarm Raised Near Hove Lagoon
At 10:10am on Sunday, HM Coastguard received a tip-off about someone seen going into the sea from a kayak or canoe near Hove Lagoon, close to Brighton.
Massive Rescue Effort Launches
- Coastguard Rescue Teams from Newhaven and Shoreham scrambled
- Brighton RNLI lifeboat joined the hunt
- Coastguard Rescue helicopter also deployed
A kayak and paddle were later found washed up on the shore.
