Urgent Search Underway for Missing 86-Year-Old Woman in Bournemouth
Police are ramping up efforts to find missing pensioner Sylvia Jeeves, last seen in Bournemouth’s Iford area. Officers have launched intense searches and are pleading with the public for any information that could help bring her home safely.
Last Seen Details and Description
Dorset Police were alerted on the evening of Sunday, 13 March 2022, after concerns were raised about Sylvia’s welfare. When officers arrived at her Iford address around 9.50pm, she was nowhere to be found.
Sylvia, also known as Sylvia Collins, is described as a slim white woman with short grey hair styled in a bob. At the time of her disappearance, she wore a light-coloured woolly jacket, white shirt, beige trousers, and dark shoes with white soles.
Coordinated Search Efforts in Full Swing
Several teams have joined the hunt for Sylvia, including Dorset Search & Rescue (DorSAR), Dorset Search Dogs, the Wessex Flood Rescue Unit, and Dorset & Wiltshire Fire Technical Rescue Unit.
On Friday, 25 March 2022, Dorset Police partnered with Devon & Cornwall Police’s Marine Team to scour the river near Iford Lane. The Force Drone Team is also helping comb the area from the air.

“Our search efforts are focusing on the River Stour by Iford Lane, but we’re following all leads to find Sylvia,” said Chief Inspector Claire Phillips of Dorset Police.
“Thanks to all agencies and members of the public who’ve supported the search. We urge anyone who has spotted Sylvia or a woman matching her description to contact us immediately.”
