Series of Arrests and Charges by Swindon Local Policing Tasking Team

The Swindon Local Policing Tasking Team (LPTT) has successfully carried out a series of arrests and charges targeting high-risk offenders in recent weeks, following a focused effort to tackle violence, drug dealing, and other priority crimes in the area. Established in July, the Swindon and County LPTTs are dedicated to supporting local policing by addressing high-harm offences and addressing community concerns.

Throughout October, the LPTT conducted proactive patrols, targeting drug dealing and responding to community intelligence, which led to significant arrests and charges. These included offences such as grievous bodily harm with intent, possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, and dangerous driving. A man with outstanding charges for multiple shoplifting offences was also arrested.

Detective Constable Will Saunders of the Swindon LPTT emphasised the importance of community information, saying, “Community intelligence is invaluable in helping us conduct our work. It guides our patrols and helps us address the issues that matter most to our residents.”

The LPTT’s efforts align with Wiltshire Police’s priorities of creating safer public spaces and reducing violence. DC Saunders encouraged residents to report any concerns via 101, reinforcing the department’s commitment to uniformed and plain-clothes patrols that target key problem areas within the community.
