17 Years On: The Disappearance of Young Daniel Entwistle Still Haunts Great Yarmouth

Vanished on a Bank Holiday

It’s been nearly two decades since seven-year-old Daniel Entwistle vanished from his home in Great Yarmouth on May 3, 2003. What should have been a joyful May Bank Holiday turned into a nightmare for his parents, Paula and David, when their beloved son disappeared near Copperfield Avenue. The desperate search involved multiple agencies using specialist techniques, but Daniel remains missing.

Last Seen on CCTV – Then Gone

Daniel was last spotted on CCTV at Blencowes convenience store around 5.05pm. Earlier sightings placed him playing with boys near the river at Trinity Quay at about 3.30pm. When Daniel didn’t return home for tea that evening, his worried parents launched an immediate, frantic search. The community soon joined, sparking a major effort to find the boy.

Critical Clue: Abandoned BMX Near River

In the early hours after his disappearance, Daniel’s red BMX bike was found abandoned near the river by Trinity Quay. This grim discovery triggered underwater sonar searches of the riverbed. Despite exhaustive efforts with hundreds of volunteers and specialists combing the area, no trace of Daniel was ever uncovered.
