A blaze ripped through a mid-terraced shop’s ground floor, but quick-thinking firefighters rescued three women and helped four others escape the flats above before the flames spread.
Shop Fire Sparks Dramatic Rescue
The fire broke out around 3.52pm, prompting crews from Plumstead, Erith, East Greenwich, and Bromley to rush to the scene. By 5.34pm, the blaze was under control. Luckily, there were no injuries reported.
Faulty Air Con Unit Blamed
Officials believe the fire was accidental, sparked by a fault in an air conditioning unit inside the shop.
Heroic Firefighters Save The Day
Thanks to the swift action of the Brigade, three women were led to safety, and another four adults evacuated the flats above prior to fire crews arriving. The shop’s ground floor suffered damage, but the quick response prevented a worse disaster.
