A 20-year-old man from Soho, Mohamed Hammoud, has denied burgling a Mayfair wine investment business and stealing rare bottles of whisky and wine worth £125,000. He appeared at Southwark Crown Court on Friday to plead not guilty to burglary charges linked to the incident on 18 February last year.

High-value Theft Allegation

Hammoud is accused of unlawfully entering Decant Index on Piccadilly, a prominent venue known for its lounge bar, tasting room, and trading platform for collectors and investors. The business overlooks Green Park and specialises in rare alcohol investments.

Legal Proceedings Underway

The defendant was granted conditional bail, including an electronically monitored curfew at night and a prohibition on visiting the Decant Index premises ahead of a trial scheduled for October 2028.

Decant Index’s Role in the Market

Decant Index is widely recognised for facilitating high-value transactions in the rare wine and whisky market, making this burglary a significant incident in London‘s luxury goods sector.
