Blaze Rips Through Copnor Garage After Garden Fire

Firefighters raced to Byron Road, Copnor, at 10pm on Sunday (29 August) after a garden fire exploded into a nearby garage. Crews from Southsea, Cosham, and Portchester slammed the brakes on the spreading inferno.

Unsupervised Rubbish Ignites, Fires Up Garage

On arrival, firefighters found the flames had jumped from smouldering rubbish left burning unattended in the garden. They battled the blaze for an hour, wielding breathing apparatus, main jets, and hose reels to douse the fire.

Fire Brought Under Control, Investigation Underway

The all-clear came at midnight as crews successfully extinguished the flames and secured the scene. Hampshire Constabulary questioned neighbours while firefighters handed out safety advice in the community.
