“Storm Ashley will bring strong winds for most of the UK on Sunday before it clears on Monday, with a chance of disruption across parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland, Northwest England, and West Wales.
“Western Scotland faces especially severe gusts of 70-80mph on Sunday afternoon and evening in exposed areas, with widespread gusts of 50-60mph elsewhere. Combined with high spring tides, these winds could cause significant disruption.”
Wisson urged the public to keep updated with the latest forecasts as the storm approaches.

Ashleigh Robson, Head of Transport Resilience at Transport Scotland, predicts widespread travel disruption during the October school holidays:
“Storm Ashley will impact travel across Scotland on Sunday and Monday. Families and commuters should watch for cross-border updates.”
She warned of hazardous conditions including fallen trees, debris on roads, and tricky driving due to heavy rain. Freight lorries and HGVs will face particular challenges. Ferry, rail, and flights could also be hit, with possible cancellations.
