Chaos on Thameslink as Person Hit by Train Sparks Massive Delays

Commuters faced chaos today after a person was struck by a train on the Thameslink line between London St Pancras and Luton. The shocking incident caused widespread disruption on key routes, including St Albans, Radlett, and Harpenden.

Lines Shut Down, Travel Nightmare for Thousands

The incident happened early this morning, forcing Network Rail and emergency services into swift action. Thameslink promptly confirmed all lines were blocked, triggering mass delays and cancelled services across the busy commuter corridor.

Delays Continue Despite Lines Reopening

By 12:12pm, Thameslink announced all lines had reopened. But the disruption wasn’t over. A spokesperson warned:

“All lines have now reopened, and we will be working to restore trains to a normal timetable over the next few hours. However, services will remain disrupted. Passengers should check their journeys before travelling and allow plenty of extra time.”

They added some trains may start or finish at different stations, and cancellations remain likely. Earlier, Thameslink urged travellers to delay journeys where possible and to add at least 45 minutes extra travel time.

Emergency Services On Scene for Hours

Live maps showed ongoing congestion between St Pancras, St Albans, and Luton. Thameslink confirmed the incident involved a person being hit by a train, but gave no further details. Emergency crews worked for hours with railway staff to clear tracks and investigate.
