Explosion Rocks ExxonMobil’s Fawley Hydrogen Plant
A massive explosion rattled the ExxonMobil site in Fawley last night, setting off alarms and shaking homes for miles. The blast, heard loud and clear at 8.38pm, forced emergency procedures into action and caused a section of the plant to shut down.
Blame Game: Insider Points Finger at Former Employee
While ExxonMobil insists the cause was a sudden release from a utility air line on a unit already shut for maintenance, insider reports suggest a former Power employee could be responsible. The company, however, stands firm on their statement.
Emergency Response in Full Swing
- Police and firefighters rushed to the scene immediately after the explosion.
- Sirens blared across the site but have since been silenced.
- Hampshire Fire and Rescue service remains on standby as a precaution.
- Residents were urged to keep doors and windows closed while experts handle the situation.
ExxonMobil Reassures Public: ‘No Danger, Operations Normal’
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the noise,” ExxonMobil stated. “Our on-site teams are investigating the cause. Operations are safe and continuing as usual. Thank you for your patience.”
They added, “The noise earlier this evening came from a sudden release from a utility air line on a unit shut down for maintenance. There was no danger to communities and no injuries.”
The incident remains under investigation, but for now, Fawley’s refinery continues its work as usual with safety assured.
