Government Pumps Millions into Dover Food Inspection Hub
Bastion Point in Whitfield is getting a major makeover. The former warehouse, covering a massive 75,751 sq. ft. of secure inspection space plus 8,625 sq. ft. of office space, is set for a full remodel. The upgrades include brand-new inspection rooms and chilled storage to cope with heightened food checks after Brexit.
250 New Jobs Created for 24/7 Operation
Dover District Council is on the hunt for around 250 fresh faces. Roles include Port Health Officers, Team Leaders, Technical Officers, and admin staff. The facility will run round-the-clock, seven days a week, beefing up the UK’s defences against unsafe food imports.

Local Council Leader Hails Dover’s Trading Importance
Cllr Trevor Bartlett, Leader of Dover District Council, welcomed the influx of government cash. “This investment underlines the importance of Dover as the UK’s primary trading gateway with mainland Europe,” he said.
