New Lord-Lieutenant of Cumbria Appointed by the King!
The King has appointed Mr Alexander Scott, DL, as the new Lord-Lieutenant of Cumbria, following the retirement of Mrs Claire Hensman, CVO, on 5th July 2023.
Cumbrian Businessman Takes the Crown’s Top Honours Role
Alexander Scott boasts a strong entrepreneurial background in financial services and a fierce loyalty to his native Cumbria. He’s deeply involved in local charities, including serving as trustee for the Francis C Scott Charitable Trust — a youth-focused grant-giving body set up by his father. Scott also supports the Cumbria Community Foundation.
Big Names and Big Hearts
Beyond Cumbria, Scott co-founded the Institute for Family Business. He works with investment giant Schroders and holds trusteeships at the prestigious Grosvenor Estate, plus other charities and enterprises.
Family Man Roots in the Lakes
Mr Scott lives near Windermere with his wife Sam. The couple have three grown-up children, keeping their family close to the heart of the Lake District.
