Major M1 Crash Sparks Road Chaos at Catthorpe Interchange
Chaos on the roads this morning after a lorry crash shuts down two key routes in Leicestershire.
Lorry Smashes into Barrier on M1
Police were scrambled at 4.37am on Monday 24 April following a collision involving a lorry on the M1 southbound at junction 19, the notorious Catthorpe Interchange.
The lorry slammed into the barrier, leaving parts of the vehicle and damaged barrier hanging perilously over the carriageway’s edge.
Thankfully, the driver escaped uninjured and left the scene safely.
M1 and A14 Closed, Major Delays Expected
The southbound M1 is shut at junction 19, while the A14 beneath is closed both ways as emergency crews work relentlessly to clear the mess.
All emergency services and recovery teams are on-site, with traffic officers scrambling to set up diversions and road closures.
Drivers are urged to steer clear if possible and follow official diversion signs for a smoother journey.
