Massive Delays on M20 as Police and Highways Scramble to Manage Traffic
Kent Police and National Highways are currently battling long queues on the M20. Four and a half miles of congestion near Junction 8 are causing delays of up to 50 minutes above normal travel times.
Major Diversions in Place for Freight Traffic
Non-EU freight drivers are told to follow the hollow circle diversion symbol:
- Exit M20 at Junction 8.
- At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto the A20 eastbound towards Ashford.
- Drive through Harrietsham, Lenham, and Charing to the Drovers roundabout.
- Take the 1st exit to continue on the A20 towards the M20.
- At M20 Junction 9 roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto the M20 coastbound to resume your journey.
EU freight drivers must leave the M20 at Junction 8 exit slip road and rejoin via the entry slip road at the same junction.
Plan Ahead to Avoid Headaches
If your route is affected, expect hefty delays. Authorities urge drivers to allow extra travel time, consider alternative routes, or delay journeys if possible.
