Havant Cracks Down on Lockdown Rule-Breakers in Holiday Homes

Havant Borough Council is cracking down on second home owners and caravan users flouting lockdown rules. They warn visitors and locals alike to stick to the Government’s tough Covid-19 restrictions or face serious action.

Council Leader Hits Out at Rule Breakers

Councillor Michael Wilson, Leader of Havant Borough Council, praised the majority who are playing by the rules. But he made it clear: “Some concerns have been raised about the possible continued commercial use of holiday accommodation in the borough.”

He added, “The Government guidance is clear— all commercial use should stop unless you fall under very limited exceptions. Any breaches will be investigated and dealt with seriously.”

Only Key Exceptions Allowed

The council outlined when holiday homes can still be used:

  • If the property is someone’s primary residence
  • For essential support to key workers or vulnerable groups, like rough sleepers
  • Emergency accommodation used alongside public bodies

Anyone flouting these rules risks facing strict repercussions as Havant battles to stop the spread of coronavirus.
