Cold Snap Cash Boost: Get £25 Free If Your Area Freezes
Struggling with sky-high energy bills this winter? The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is handing out £25 payments to eligible households stuck in freezing temperatures – and you could be next in line.
£25 Hot Cash for Cold Weather
From now until March 31, the DWP will deposit £25 directly into bank accounts for every seven consecutive days of below-zero temperatures. That means if the cold snap lasts longer, so does your payday! The cash boost targets households grappling with energy costs amid bitter Arctic blasts sweeping across the UK.
The Met Office has already warned of yellow alerts for snow and ice across large parts of the country, with some areas even slapped with red weather warnings for the most vulnerable. The payments kick in automatically, including for Universal Credit claimants, with banks credited within 14 days after a qualifying postcode hits the freeze.
Thousands Already Paid – Is Your Postcode on the List?
Between Monday and Thursday, over 300 postcodes saw cold weather payments rolled out. By Friday, that number jumped by another 200, meaning thousands more households have received or are about to receive a chilly weather windfall.
Last year, some regions scored up to three payments, totalling £75, thanks to multiple freezing spells. This winter, the cold weather cash scheme is back, ready to soften the blow of frosty bills.
