Three Kids in Sea Scare Near Sandown Pier – Lifeboat Scrambled

Three children got into trouble in the sea off Sandown Pier this afternoon, sparking a swift rescue effort. Quick-thinking beachgoers spotted the youngsters struggling and rushed to their aid, raising the alarm immediately.

Lifeboat Launched in Instant Rescue

The Sandown and Shanklin independent lifeboat was launched just after 5.30pm on Tuesday 14th August 2018. Thankfully, the children were already pulled from the water by onlookers before the crew arrived, but the lifeboat stood ready to assist if needed.

Emergency Services Rush to the Scene

  • Coastguard search and rescue team from Bembridge deployed to Sandown Esplanade
  • Paramedics from Isle of Wight Ambulance Service tending to the trio
  • Children believed to have been struggling about 15 metres from shore
