Newgate Lane in Fareham is shut after a nasty three-vehicle smash involving a skip lorry, a Nissan Micra, BMW, and Kia. The crash blocked both lanes near Tanners Lane, causing chaos during the morning rush.
Trapped Driver Freed with Cutting Gear
Emergency crews from Fareham and Southsea raced to the scene shortly after 10.30am. They used specialist cutters to remove the roof of one vehicle, freeing a trapped driver. The extent of the driver’s injuries is still unknown.
Traffic Chaos and Doggie Miracle
Police blocked the road at Speedfield Park, leaving drivers stuck in queues stretching back to the Stubbington roundabout. Many motorists turned around to avoid the snarled-up traffic. Lucky dogs were onboard the trapped car but escaped unharmed.
Police Urge Drivers to Find New Routes
A Hampshire Police spokesperson said: “We were called at 10.37am about a four-vehicle collision near HMS Collingwood on Newgate Lane. The road reopened just after midday, but long delays will continue.”
