Tory MP Faces Sexual Misconduct Probe

Whip Withdrawn Amid Investigation
The Conservative whip has been officially withdrawn while Parliament’s Independent Complaints and Grievance Scheme (ICGS) investigates. This is the first probe of its kind, aimed at cracking down on inappropriate behaviour within the parliamentary workplace.
A Whips Office spokesperson confirmed the MP must stay away from the parliamentary estate during the ongoing inquiry. The Telegraph reports the ICGS received a formal complaint about the MP’s conduct, triggering the investigation.
MP Speaks Out With Limited Comment
“I have enormous amounts of defence, but unfortunately the way that things are means that doesn’t come out first. I have heard nothing whatsoever from the Independent Complaints and Grievance Scheme. I’m sorry, I can’t comment any further,” the MP told The Telegraph.
Strong Electoral Record Before Scandal
First elected in 2015 with a commanding majority of 20,268—representing the largest constituency swing to the Tories at 18.3%—the MP was re-elected in 2017 and 2019 with majorities of 22,906 and 19,213, respectively.
He currently chairs the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on [REDACTED] and previously served on the Commons European Scrutiny Committee.
