Oxfordshire and London Fire Services in Mourning After Tragic Death of Firefighter Martyn Sadler
Firefighter Martyn Sadler, 38, has died while responding to a fire at Bicester Motion on Buckingham Road last Thursday, 15 May. His family and colleagues have paid heartfelt tributes to the dedicated firefighter who split his service between Oxfordshire County Council’s Fire and Rescue Service and the London Fire Brigade.
‘Martyn Was Born to Be a Firefighter’
Martyn’s family described him as a born hero with fire service running through his veins. In a poignant statement, they said:
“Martyn was born to be a 123 and London’s Burning, Martyn joined the fire cadets as soon as he could. His passion laid the foundation for a career marked by bravery, teamwork, and achievement.
A Hero, A Husband, A Friend
The family continued to express the deep personal loss felt worldwide:
“He was a loving husband, son, brother, uncle and all-round family member, an amazing friend, a committed colleague and the true definition of a hero. Our world has fallen apart and our hearts are completely broken, but somewhere in amongst it all we are immensely proud of him and his unwavering bravery.”
Colleagues across both brigades have honoured Martyn’s warm personality and steadfast sense of duty, calling him “one of the best” and “a man who gave everything.”
