Drug Driving Conviction Overturned Amid Randox Testing Scandal
Two men, aged 37 and 41, have been arrested after a historic drug driving conviction from December 2015 was quashed in Havant. The original case involved a 27-year-old convicted on Barncroft Way charges, but prosecutors withdrew the case at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court, freeing him from a lifetime stain.
Mass Police Probe Into Faulty Forensic Tests
The local police are scrambling to review 456 similar convictions linked to suspect Randox Testing Services results. Across the UK, a staggering 10,000 cases are under national investigation following alarming ‘irregularities’ discovered in police forensic tests.
Force Promises Full Review and Retesting
“We can confirm we have 456 cases being reviewed to determine whether they have been affected by the quality failure,” a Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said.
He added: “We are working closely with the national co-ordination team to prioritise cases and carry out further re-testing to establish whether the results are correct. We are also working with the Crown Prosecution Service to review any potentially affected cases.”
