A man is trapped inside a plane that crashed at Damyns Hall aerodrome in Upminster this afternoon.
Crash Sparks Emergency Rush
At around 12:09pm, emergency services including firefighters, police, and the London Ambulance Service were called to the scene following reports of a light aircraft crashing shortly after take-off near Aveley Road.
Station Commander Jeremy Davies, on site, said: “Firefighters are working with partners to free a man trapped inside a lightweight aircraft near the aerodrome.”
Woman Freed, Both Treated on Scene
Crews have managed to release a woman from the wreckage, and she is currently being treated on scene by London Ambulance Service paramedics.
A Met Police spokesperson confirmed: “We are there, as is LAS. A man and a woman were apprehended. Neither was determined to have life-altering or life-threatening injuries.”
Recent History of Danger at Damyns Hall
Last year, the same airfield saw a serious incident when a pilot collapsed during a training session with a display team, underlining the risks involved at this site.
