Shock Crash Rocks Indian Air Force Fleet! Two military jets took off from Gwalior airbase early Saturday but both crashed within 30 miles, sending rescue teams scrambling.
Wreckage Found, Pilot Injured
Rescue crews discovered the wreckage of one plane deep in the Pahadgarh forests, along with an injured pilot. Officer Dharmender Gaur told AFP, “In the Pahadgarh forests, we found the wreckage of one of the planes and an injured pilot.”
“The other plane likely went down further away. We’ve dispatched teams to hunt it down,” he added.
Mixed Fate for Crews
Local boss Ankit Asthana told Reuters that two of the three crew members from one aircraft were rescued and rushed to hospital. The condition of the third crew member remains unknown.
Details about the crew aboard the second plane have yet to emerge.
Aircraft Identified: Sukhoi-30 and Mirage 2000
ANI news reported the downed aircraft were a Sukhoi-30 and a Mirage 2000, spotlighting another blow to India’s military aviation.
Another Tragedy in a Troubled Fleet
This latest crash adds to a spate of deadly air accidents for India’s forces. Last October, a helicopter crash in Arunachal Pradesh killed five army personnel near the tense border with China.
