M25 Chaos Near Chertsey as Mercedes Aquaplanes into Crash Barriers – Two Lanes Shut
Traffic nightmare on the M25 today after a black Mercedes A-Class lost control on the soggy road near Chertsey. Two lanes are closed at Junction 11 following a dramatic crash caused by aquaplaning in heavy surface water.
Early Morning Horror on Slick Motorway
The smash happened just after 6.30am when the car careered across three lanes before spinning and slamming into the crash barriers. Fortunately, the driver escaped without injury, but the incident has caused major tailbacks as rush hour traffic grinds to a halt.
Recovery Underway But Delays to Continue
Surrey Roads Policing and Highways England officers rushed to the scene, moving the wrecked vehicle onto the hard shoulder. Despite this, one lane remains shut for repair crews to fix around 10 metres of damaged barriers.
Highways England spokesman: “There’s currently a 30-minute delay on this stretch. We expect to clear the vehicle and reopen lanes by 10am, but repairs to the barriers will take extra time. Please drive carefully.”
