Chaos on M25 as Mercedes Ploughs into Crash Barrier – Two Lanes Closed!
Early morning commuters on the M25 faced major delays after a black Mercedes A-Class spun out of control and smashed into the crash barrier near Junction 11, Chertsey. The crash, caused by aquaplaning on a waterlogged road, happened just after 6:30am.
Two Lanes Shut After Mercedes Swerves Wildly
The driver lost control on the slippy surface, careered across three lanes, then crashed head-on into the barriers. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported. Emergency crews from Surrey Roads Policing and Highways England quickly arrived on scene.
Long Delays as Recovery Underway
Traffic is building fast anticlockwise with two lanes closed. The wrecked vehicle has now been moved onto the hard shoulder, but a single lane remains shut for barrier repairs. Around 10 metres of crash barrier was badly damaged.
“We are seeing delays of up to 30 minutes through this stretch,” a Highways England spokesman said. “We expect to clear the vehicle and reopen lanes by 10am.”
Drivers are urged to expect delays and drive carefully while repairs continue. The overnight downpour left the M25 surface dangerously wet, leading to this morning’s smash-up.
