Emergency crews have swarmed Babbs Mill Lake in Solihull after a chilling incident involving children falling through the ice. Multiple police, fire, and ambulance vehicles line Fordbridge Road and Stonebridge Crescent as a major rescue operation unfolds.
Five Children Rescue After Falling Through Ice
Reports reveal that five children ventured onto the frozen lake and broke through the ice shortly before 4 p.m. Several of those rescued are now critically ill and receiving urgent medical care at nearby hospitals.
We are currently on the scene of a serious incident at Babbs Mill Park, Fordbridge Road,” confirmed West Midlands Police. They are working closely with West Midlands Fire and Ambulance services to manage the rescue and ongoing search operation.
Specialist Water Rescue Teams Lead the Operation
West Midlands Fire Service spokesperson said: “At 2:36pm on Sunday 11 December, fire, police, and ambulance teams were called to Babbs Mill Park. Witnesses and social media videos show people playing on the ice before falling through.”
“Our specialist water rescue units quickly took control, using expert equipment and entering the water to pull victims to safety. Casualties received immediate medical support at the scene.”
