Walker Saved After Tide Strands Them on Dover Coast
A walker was dramatically rescued by lifeboat crews and coastguard teams from Dover and Deal after being cut off by the rising tide on Saturday lunchtime.
Tide Turns Treacherous
The Walmer RNLI lifeboat was scrambled at around 12.30pm to assist two volunteer coastguard search and rescue teams. The walker had become trapped when the tide surged, flooding creeks and blocking their route back to safety.
Teamwork on the Shore
Two nearby coastguard teams were quickly called in to carry out the rescue on foot, while the lifeboat provided critical safety cover from the water. The coordinated effort ensured the walker was reached quickly and brought back to dry land.
Thankfully, No Harm Done
Described as “cold and wet” but otherwise well, the walker was safely recovered and did not require medical attention. Rescue teams warned that the outcome could have been much worse if not for the unusually mild weather conditions that day.
