West Midlands Police Kick Off Youth Football Tourney to Build Bridges

West Midlands Police are gearing up to host a community football tournament for local youngsters on Saturday, October 5, 2024. The event, held at the police training centre, Tally Ho!, aims to forge stronger ties between youth aged 12-17 and law enforcement.

Seven-A-Side Showdown With a Twist

The seven-a-side tournament welcomes players of all skill levels to compete for trophies and medals. But it’s more than just football – participants will meet police officers and get hands-on with exciting demos, including drone displays and police dog units.

Beyond Football: Meet the Force

Attendees can explore various policing roles, gaining a rare behind-the-scenes glimpse of law enforcement operations. The event also ties into West Midlands Police’s Black History Month celebrations, featuring representatives from the force’s Museum and the Black and Asian Police Association.

Inspector Jemma Connor-Iommi, organiser, said: “We want to develop good relationships with young people so they feel supported and confident to speak to police as they get older.”
