Authorities in Kankakee County have apprehended a woman accused of abducting four girls from a park earlier this week. The incident took place at approximately 2pm on Monday, according to police in Manteno.
The girls reported to authorities that they were playing at the park when an unknown woman approached them. The woman allegedly brandished a knife, threatened them, and forced them into a vehicle. The suspect then purportedly transported the girls to various locations in the Bourbonnais and Manteno areas, including her own residence, before eventually dropping them off at another park in Manteno shortly before 5pm.
Fortunately, the girls were able to locate officers and promptly informed them of the terrifying incident. Authorities have confirmed that all four girls emerged from the ordeal unharmed.
A short time later, police located the suspect, identified as Anita Diaz, and arrested her without any further issues. Diaz has been charged and is currently being detained in Kankakee County as the investigation unfolds.
