Flat Fire Sparks Major Emergency Response
A woman was hospitalised after a fire broke out in a first-floor flat on Uplands Road, Hornsey, in the early hours today. The London Fire Brigade (LFB) was called at 4:30am, sending four fire engines and around 25 firefighters from Hornsey, Holloway, and Tottenham stations to tackle the blaze.
Fire Contained Quickly to One Flat
Fire crews managed to keep the damage to part of the first-floor flat, bringing the fire under control by 5:38am—just over an hour after the emergency call. Emergency medical teams treated the woman onsite before rushing her to hospital. Her current condition remains unknown.
Investigation Ongoing, Police on Scene
The cause of the fire is being jointly investigated by the London Fire Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service. No arrests have been made yet, but officers continue inquiries at the scene.
“Crews acted quickly to stop the fire from spreading beyond the first-floor flat. As always, we urge residents to ensure they have working smoke alarms fitted and to test them regularly,” said an LFB spokesperson.
