Residents of Saltdean were left gobsmacked when a taxi veered off course – and somehow ended up driving straight down a flight of steps near the cliff edge. The bizarre mishap nearly turned deadly, as the cab just missed smashing into a house before grinding to a nerve-wracking halt.

Onlookers could hardly believe their eyes when they spotted the taxi precariously perched on the steps, its headlights cutting through the night.
