Boy, 12, Brutally Assaulted in Riverside Park Football Clash

Police are on the hunt after a 12-year-old boy was viciously attacked at Riverside Park, Southampton, last Thursday evening.

Unprovoked Attack During Football Game

The young lad was playing football with mates around 8pm on April 7 when a teenage boy launched an unprovoked assault. The victim was left unconscious and suffered serious facial injuries, including a broken jaw.

He was rushed to Southampton General Hospital and remains there awaiting surgery.

Suspect and Group Descriptions

  • Suspect: White male, about 15 years old
  • Features: Light brown curly hair, glasses, wearing a shirt, speaks with a European accent
  • Accompanied by: Around five boys, some as young as 5 or 6
  • Also seen: Older white man (30-40 years), wearing a black Saints football jumper

Police Appeal for Witnesses

Detective Constable Claire Ratcliffe said: “This young boy was playing with friends when he was subjected to a shocking, unprovoked attack. We believe several people witnessed this and ask anyone who saw what happened — especially the adult man described — to come forward. Your information could be vital.”
