A Prolific Shoplifter Has Been Jailed For 18-weeks After Admitting To Stealing More Than A Thousand Pounds Worth Of Goods From Swindon Shops

Martin Morgan, aged 35, from Whitworth Road, Swindon pleaded guilty at Swindon Magistrates Court on Thursday (19/11) to three counts of theft from three separate shops in the town.
On Wednesday 11 November, he entered the Co-Op store on Cricklade Road and stole a bottle of alcohol.
On Friday 13 November, he entered Boots in the town centre and took numerous skin care products.
On Wednesday 18 November, he entered Marks and Spencer on Regent Street and stole several bottles of alcohol.
Following the sentencing, PC Paul Bezzant from the Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “This is a good result as this man is a prolific offender causing no end of problems for hard working people and businesses in the town.
“He has only recently come out of prison but obviously has not learnt his lesson.
“Hopefully these 18-weeks will give him time to reflect and will allow businesses, already hit by the current lockdown, some respite from his actions.”
