Tragedy strikes as two dead and one critical after nightclub chaos

Deadly crush at packed venue on December 15

Two people have died and a third remains in critical condition following a chaotic incident outside a packed venue on the evening of Thursday, 15 December. Police were called at 9:04pm after reports of a huge crowd gathering. The first officers arrived shortly after, but the situation quickly escalated.

At 9:35pm, another call came through reporting that people were trying to force entry into the venue. The crush left several seriously injured. Emergency crews, including police officers and London Ambulance Service paramedics, treated victims on the spot.

Victims named – heartbroken families left devastated

Among the injured, 33-year-old Rebecca Ikumelo and 23-year-old Gaby Hutchinson were rushed to hospital but sadly died in the days following the incident. Meanwhile, a 21-year-old woman remains fighting for her life in critical condition.

Police launch full investigation & appeal for witnesses

Detective Superintendent Dave Kennett, from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, said: “A team of detectives with expertise in complex investigations is working to establish exactly what happened before and during this incident. We know there were thousands of people in and around the venue. Many saw what happened, some were caught up in the crush.”

He added: “We urge anyone who witnessed the event to come forward. We are reviewing all CCTV footage and want any video or images captured on phones that might help us piece together why this tragedy took place.”
