A 100-metre cordon has been set up near a police station and medical centre in Burgess Hill following reports of a suspicious package.

The army bomb squad, alongside several ambulances, rushed to The Brow, close to the American Express building, after police were alerted at 1.48pm on Thursday, July 28.

Man Arrested as Investigation Continues

By 9pm, officers confirmed a man was arrested and is assisting with inquiries. Several local residents were evacuated, and some roads remain closed as a precaution.

“A cordon remains in place while the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team assesses the situation,” a police spokesman said.
