Man Jailed for Life After Brutal Murder of Woman in Leyton
Yi Xing Song, 54, has been sentenced to life in prison with a minimum of 19 years for the savage murder of 35-year-old Li-Qing Wang.
Shocking Stabbing in Leyton
Song pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey on 1 September to murdering Li-Qing inside their Magnolia Close home. Police were called on 25 February after Li-Qing was found with multiple stab wounds. Despite the efforts of officers and paramedics, she died at the scene.
Song, who was inside the property, was arrested immediately. The pair were in a relationship and living together.
Disturbing Social Media Twist
On the day of the murder, Song callously posted a photo of Li-Qing’s body in a family chat group. The image was spotted by her sister in China, who quickly asked friends in the UK to check on her welfare.
Two family friends went to the house, where Song led them to Li-Qing’s lifeless body covered with a duvet. A bloodied knife was found at her feet.
Terrifying Background and Aftermath
- Song has a history of alcohol addiction and jealousy, leading to a turbulent relationship with Li-Qing.
- In 2018, she tried to leave him after incidents involving his controlling behaviour and self-harm with a knife, but stayed.
- At the time of her death, Li-Qing was a widow and mother of two, aged 22 and 12.

“Song stabbed Li-Qing 21 times in a frenzied attack. His own disgust was evident as he refused to open his eyes when found by officers. This horrific act has shattered many lives.”
