31 Premature Babies Rushed from Gaza Amid Bombardment
In the chaos of the Gaza conflict, 31 premature babies have been rushed from al-Shifa Hospital to Al-Helal Al-Emairati Maternity Hospital, the World Health Organization (WHO) confirmed. WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus described the infants as “very sick” and in desperate need of urgent care.
Tragic Toll: Many Orphaned by Bombing
The fragile newborns were transferred to a neonatal intensive care unit in Rafah’s Emirati Hospital. Hospital spokesperson Nebal Farsakh revealed a heartbreaking truth: many of the babies lost their parents in Israeli bombardments. Surviving parents were forced to leave Gaza City before the evacuation, and their whereabouts remain unknown.
Deaths Prompt Emergency Evacuation
The evacuation came after two infants tragically died — one the day before the transfer and another on the morning of the operation. Farsakh said this spurred the urgent move to the safer facility in southern Rafah.
Wrapped in Foil, Battling for Survival
During transport, the tiny babies were carefully wrapped in foil blankets to keep warm. Despite the dire situation, Farsakh confirmed the infants are currently stable and under close medical care.
