Just Stop Oil Hits Back: ‘We Won’t Be Intimidated’
A spokesperson for climate group Just Stop Oil fired back:
“We will not be intimidated by our criminal government. Not content with cheering on war crimes in Gaza, by maxing out our oil and gas reserves they are complicit in the greatest crime in human history. New oil and gas will cause unimaginable suffering and wreck billions of lives. No one voted for this – there’s never been a democratic mandate to destroy our habitable world.”
“Just Stop Oil supporters are committed to stopping all new oil and gas. If the government refuses to act to protect humanity, people will rise and do what’s necessary.”
“The brutal truth is politicians and corporations have no intention of defending young people or the country. Whether or not they realise it, this is a crime of genocide. That’s how future generations will remember it. Our friends in police custody and behind bars know this well, as do we.”
The Stakes: Oil Expansion Equals Disaster
New oil and gas projects risk pushing the planet beyond irreversible tipping points. That means food shortages, societal collapse, and devastation on an unprecedented scale. To greenlight more fossil fuels with full knowledge of the fallout isn’t just immoral—it’s the gravest crime in human history.
Thousands Ready to Take to the Streets
Just Stop Oil warns: “We will not stand down. We refuse to die quietly. Civil resistance is no longer optional – it’s essential.” From October 29, thousands will join mass road marches until their demands are met. Fancy joining the fight? Sign up here.
