Elderly Musician Murdered in West London Shooting Spree
At 4.06pm on Tuesday, 87-year-old Thomas O’Halloran was attacked on Cayton Road, Greenford, near the A40 in west London. His attacker fled the scene, and no arrests have been made yet in the capital’s sixth homicide in just four days.
Scotland Yard is keeping an open mind about the motive, not ruling out robbery. Officers are urgently appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Locals Remember Kind Accordion Player Supporting Ukraine
Frasley Coutinho, who lives opposite the murder spot, described seeing “a couple of people gathering around” Mr O’Halloran before a group of young boys appeared at the scene.
Mr O’Halloran was known in the community as a talented musician. He often played his accordion to raise funds for Ukrainian refugees, proudly displaying a Ukraine flag on his basket.
“He was a wonderful, kind man,” said Hitesh Patel, 62, a shop owner near Greenford station. “He always had the flag on him and raised money for Ukraine.”
Police Launch Appeal for Dashcam Footage
On Wednesday, dozens of officers and forensic experts swarmed the scene, setting up a cordon around the residential house at the junction of Cayton Road and Runnymede Gardens.
Detective Chief Inspector Jim Eastwood urged the public:
“If you were driving or cycling near the Western Avenue A40 Eastbound between 1.15pm and 4.15pm on Tuesday, please check your dashcam or helmet footage. The victim was on a mobility scooter in the area, and it’s critical we find anyone who saw suspicious activity.”
Chief Superintendent Sean Wilson of Ealing police added:
“This awful incident will understandably cause alarm. We’re working hard to find who did this. The public’s help is vital — together we can remove violent offenders from our streets.”
