Deadly Standoff: ICE Agent Shoots Protester in Minneapolis
Shocking new footage reveals the tense moments before Renee Nicole Good, 37, was fatally shot by ICE agent Jonathan ‘Jon’ Ross during a Minneapolis protest. The crystal-clear video, filmed by Ross himself, shows Good calmly smiling and telling him, “That’s fine dude. I’m not mad at you.” The protest was raging around them.
Good sat inside her Honda Pilot during demonstrations against ICE’s plan to detain Somali migrants. Her wife, Rebecca Good, 40, can be heard goading Ross: “Show your face!” and teasing, “You want to come at us? I say go get yourself some lunch, big boy.”
Gunfire Erupts as SUV Flees
When Ross ordered Good to leave her vehicle, she instead revved the engine and sped off. Rebecca shouted, “Drive baby, drive!” The video then captures three gunshots fired by Ross, one smashing the windshield. Good was hit and died instantly. Ross can be heard cursing her as the shots ring out.
After being shot, Good crashed her SUV into several parked cars nearby.
Country Split Over Controversial Shooting
The graphic footage has ignited fierce debate nationwide. Democrats slammed agent Ross as a ‘murderer’, while the Trump administration defended him, insisting he acted in self-defence and accusing Good of trying to run Ross down.
Activist Mother at the Heart of Protest
Friends say Good was a well-known activist, heavily involved in her son’s charter school, which puts ‘social justice first’. The couple reportedly fled the US after Trump’s 2024 victory, briefly lived in Canada, then settled in Minneapolis.
Good and her wife acted as legal observers at protests, with Rebecca filming the fatal incident. In raw footage, Rebecca breaks down, blaming herself: “I made her come down here, it’s my fault.” Meanwhile, Good’s mother insists her daughter wasn’t actively protesting that day.
Agent Ross’ Troubled Past and Political Backing
Ross is no stranger to violence. Just six months earlier, he was dragged 100 yards by a car during an arrest, suffering serious injuries. The Trump administration stands firmly behind Ross, calling the shooting a “tragedy of her own making.”
Vice President JD Vance blasted “left-wing ideology” for sparking the clash. But Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and local officials branded the self-defence claim as “garbage.”
