Major Factory Blaze in Wolverhampton: 100 Firefighters Battle Overnight Inferno
Over 100 firefighters have spent the night tackling a huge fire on Lower Horseley Fields, Wolverhampton. The blaze tore through multiple factory units covering around 200m by 200m.
Firefighters Fight Fiercely to Contain Inferno
The fire broke out just after 9pm, with four engines first on the scene. Within an hour, the response ramped up to more than 20 fire appliances and over 100 firefighters battling the flames from all sides. At 10pm, the fire was declared a major incident due to its size and threat to nearby homes and the railway line.
Crews worked relentlessly through the night, focusing on creating fire breaks to stop the fire spreading further.
Road Closures and Travel Chaos
- Lower Walsall Street, Lower Horseley Fields, and Colliery Road remain closed to keep routes clear for emergency crews.
- Train services between Wolverhampton and Birmingham are delayed or cancelled. Travellers are advised to check before heading out.
Multi-Agency Effort to Keep Area Safe
West Midlands Fire and Rescue are teaming up with police, ambulance, Wolverhampton Council, and Network Rail. Train services near the scene have been halted, and the overhead power supply isolated to safeguard responders.
Plans are in place to evacuate residents within the 200m danger zone as a precaution. Relief teams are preparing to bring the incident under control and will thoroughly search affected buildings once safe.
